VSAM Alternate Index Build Utility

BIM-Build Index allows VSAM installations to build VSAM alternate indexes in about one-fourth of the elapsed time, and with about one-fifth of the CPU time, required by the IDCAMS BLDINDEX utility function.

BIM-Build Index provides features like:

• Improved indexing speed and efficiency.
• “Sparce” index creation, allowing you to exclude records with highly non-unique or informationally useless keys.
• Option to specify which base cluster records to include or exclude.
• Ability to load indexes defined over a base cluster by specifying only the base cluster.
• Ability to build indexes using noncontiguous data elements from the base cluster.
